That's a mistake. Seguin is small, friendly, easy to navigate, and has more legitimate things to do with kids than its size suggests — an amusement park, a public golf course on the Guadalupe River, a quirky historic downtown, and a spring-fed creek with cabins on it (that part's us). If you're planning a family weekend in Seguin, here's the local guide we'd hand you at check-in. ## 1\. ZDT's Amusement Park The obvious headline. **ZDT's** is a small, family-run amusement park right in Seguin with a wooden roller coaster (Switchback), go-karts, bumper cars, mini golf, a kiddie ride zone, an indoor waterpark, and a bowling alley. No two-hour lines, no $25 parking — you park, walk in, and ride. Plan on 4–6 hours. Tickets are cheaper than the big San Antonio or Houston parks, and the toddler area is one of the few that has real rides little kids can do alone. Geronimo Creek (At Son's Geronimo) This one's biased, but earned. The best swimming water in Seguin is the spring-fed **Geronimo Creek** on our property at 2111 Laubach Rd. Quarter mile of private creek frontage, free kayaks, paddleboards, and life jackets included with any cabin stay. Two pools and two hot tubs on the property too. If you're not staying overnight, you'll need to look elsewhere for creek access — but if you're planning a Seguin family weekend, this is the home base most families wish they'd booked sooner. Public golf course, picnic areas, playgrounds, a duck pond, walking paths along the river, and a free splash pad in summer. Easy 2–3 hour afternoon stop, especially for kids who need to burn energy. ## 4\. Sebastopol House Historic Site A weird, charming 1850s house museum built out of poured concrete (yes, in 1856 — Seguin was actually known as the "concrete city" in the 19th century). Free admission, kid-friendly guided tours, and a short visit — 30 to 45 minutes. Good rainy-day option. ## 5\. Historic Downtown Seguin Walkable courthouse square with antique shops, the **World's Largest Pecan** photo op (yes, really), small coffee shops, and a few local restaurants. Park once, walk the loop, grab lunch. Total time: 1–2 hours depending on how much your kids want to browse. The pecan statue is on the courthouse lawn — every family with kids gets the same photo, and your kids will want one too. ## 6\. Texas Lutheran University Campus Free walking around, athletic events (football and basketball in season are surprisingly fun and cheap), and a small but real campus to wander. Easy add-on if you've got teens or are killing 30 minutes before a meal downtown. ## 7\. Beyond the World's Largest Pecan downtown, families usually stop at **Pape's Pecan House** on the way in or out of town — part nut store, part roadside curiosity museum with a free pecan-themed display.
